Children with additional needs
Here at Charlestown Primary School, we are committed to meeting the needs of all children. We have a qualified SENCo and full time additional needs teacher in school along with many SEN specialist Teaching assistants.
We have an evolving additonal provision in school for children with very high complex needs called the ARC.
The Additional Resource Class (ARC) is a separate class in school run by a Teacher and a team of SEN Teaching Assistants.
A place in the ARC (both full and part time) will be considered if a child has a significant/high level of need meaning that aspects of their learning cannot be delivered in their mainstream class safely without it significantly impacting the learning of their peers.
A child may need opportunities to de-escalate their emotions or have a sensory break in order to continue learning.
Learning can be taught/offered in shorter chunks and personalised to meet their needs.
All children will be encouraged to transition to their mainstream class and where possible will be supported in this transition.
For this and any other information regarding additonal needs You can contact our SENCo Mrs. Peters on: firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
